ENERGY STORAGE SYSTEMS (ESS)

Our new range of medium size energy storage systems (from 10 to 90 kVA) takes modular energy storage to a new level. Developed with sustainability in mind, it helps operators to dramatically reduce their fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, while delivering optimal performance with zero noise and virtually no maintenance.

Leveraging the benefits of high-density lithium-ion batteries, the medium size units are compact and light compared to traditional alternatives, yet capable of providing over 12 hours of power with a single charge. They can serve as the primary source of power and, alternatively, they can be combined with a generator to enable smart load management.

These Energy Storage Systems are ideally suited for noise-sensitive environments, such as event or metropolitan construction sites, telecoms, or rental applications, to resolve low load problems and storage renewable energy. Also, the large units can work in parallel with other Energy Storage Systems and become the ‘brain’ of a microgrid.

Our medium size Energy Storage Systems have a footprint of just 1.5 m2, which means that they are 70 percent smaller and lighter in weight than traditional standalone generators. Their size, which has a lot to do with their high-density lithium-ion batteries, brings a new level of versatily and usability. Without compromising on power, these Energy Storage Systems have a working life of over 40.000 hours. This contributes to a very low Total Cost of Ownership.

Although all medium and large Energy Storage Systems can operate in hybrid mode and as a standalone solution, the medium size Energy Storage Systems are the perfect fit for certain applications. Due to their size and capacity, they are ideal for telecom installations in remote locations. In metropolitan construction sites, they can be used to balance out the peaks in demand and low loads. Also, these Energy Storage Systems can operate in emissions-free and noise-sensitive areas where generators can’t. Of course, the Energy Storage Systems can also work storing energy coming from renewable sources.

Battery Energy Storage Systems are a simpler way to capture and store energy for its later use. They are not typically used to replace grid power completely. Instead, they often offer short-term solutions in applications where there is no access to grid power. Energy storage systems can also replace generators when they are unsuitable due to noise or pollution concerns. They also work with renewable sources of energy, such as solar panels.

In a Li-ion battery, the electrolytes carry positively charged lithium ions between the anodes and the cathodes though the separator. When the battery is powering a device, the anode releases lithium ions to the cathode, creating a flow of electrons. In rechargeable batteries, this flow reverses when the battery charges. Then, the lithium ions are released by the cathode and received by the anode.

Lithium-ion batteries enable a new level of sustainability, flexibility and usability, without compromising in power. They are an ideal solution for small businesses with a need for smart power management and for large applications with multiple units. In both cases, they increase the efficiency and often reduce emissions. The fact that Energy Storage Systems have two operating modes (island and hybrid mode) allows the end-user to address any peaks in demands. Energy Storage Systems can effectively operate at metropolitan constructions, telecom applications and events, and with renewable sources of energy. In a busy construction site, where peaks in demand usually occur during daytime, energy storage systems complement the power supplied by generators. They can also tandem with a generator to service telecom antennas more efficiently. Also, working in island mode, energy storage systems operate where generator noise is unsuitable, for example at events.
